Yoana Torres

Yoana Torres is the coordinator for the EAGLES project at Heritage University. Prior to joining, Yoana was a student at Heritage University AND she was an EAGLES Scholar. She was a first-generation student and the first in her family to obtain a college degree. Yoana graduated from Sunnyside High school and Yakima valley college in 2019. After that, she began attending Heritage and obtained her B.S in Biology with a concentration in Biomedical Sciences in 2022. Outside of work, Yoana loves to read, weight-lift, hike, bake, and spend quality time with her family.

Julie Conley

Julie Conley is the Coordinator for the EAGLES Project at Heritage University. She also teaches Geographic Information Systems and co-teaches Environmental Policy as adjunct faculty. Prior to joining Heritage Julie spent eight years as a Range Management Specialist with Mid-Columbia River National Wildlife Refuge Complex in Burbank, WA where she focused on inventory and monitoring of shrub steppe ecosystems. She holds an M.S. in Range Management from the University of Arizona (2001) and has worked in grass/shrubland systems for the past 20 years for organizations such as The Arid Lands Information Center, Conservation Districts, The Nature Conservancy, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service. Julie obtained her B.A. in International Studies with a minor in French from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA in 1991.  Her interest in natural resources was then sparked by a 3-year stint as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mali, West Africa. Outside of work Julie loves to botanize, forage, backpack, ski (nordic) , and perform live music. She hails from Eastern Washington and has lived with her husband and two daughters in Yakima, WA for the past 14 years.
